Re: Route to PC

Are you sure you want to be a PC? Really? REALLLLY? Just out of curiosity what do you think the average dayshift / evening shift entails for a PC? Is this a good idea to become a PCSO to gain experience for then to apply for a PC role or would it best volunteering for that police force's specials wh...

Re: is anti climb paint legal? can you use it at home?

This is basically the argument of criminal damage being reasonable in order to prevent crime. Like when the rozzers are chasing you and smash your car windows to drag you out. Reasonable as they are locking you up and preventing dangerous driving. I don't think there is a particular law on this typ...

Re: school Crossing patrols under threat?

dark lord, Volunteers may well be one answer and another might be walking buses. However, the point I was trying to make was that yet again the cuts are being made to frontline services and cutting one executive level job would save as much money as cutting a number of jobs such as lollipop ladies....

Re: school Crossing patrols under threat?

That's the biggest problem with cuts to public services. It's the loss of many frontline jobs, each of which only save a relatively small amount, rather than going for the big salaries at the top of the tree. I'm sure there's many councils that can afford to lose a few "senior executives" and thus ...

Re: Major changes to ASB legislation go live today

All Unison / GMB want to do is strike for more pay while taking away PCSO powers as they are PCSOs themselves but also lazy fudgers who want to live out their days til their retirement with no need to do any work. Such a pain in the arse. Still no change for us. We are still not allowed to use the ...

Re: We should not have to pay for private security!!

Superintendent Steve Deehan from Islington Police said even licensed premises which were not considered crime hot spots should be required to pay the levy because their businesses contributed to the overall workload for police. He said: "We want a vibrant night time economy. It is about creating be...

Re: Major changes to ASB legislation go live today

I would be happy to have all the powers under the new ASB legislation and no more money for it. Those tools will be so bloody useful in my day to day duties and the thought of the unions to which i do understand why they argue this for our benefit but the risk for us not to have it just annoys me. ...

Re: Major changes to ASB legislation go live today

We have been told we cannot use any new powers or legislation. Apparently unison have issues. No further explanation. Any unionites explain what unisons problem is? This is potentially damaging as the public will perceive we are not wanting to move forward and help them. I just hope unison sent goi...

Re: doing a witness statement from a victim

We take first accounts which are basically statements but in the form of a notebook entry, but are worded the same.

I write all my own statements, other PCSOs do not.

Re: Boots (again!)

Altbergs are expensive if I recall. Not heard of any of the others. For the last 10 years I have been using Magnums, yes I know many people dont like them but for me they are comfy and do a fine job. The last pair i got new off ebay for £25 and they lasting longer then my mates £170 tactical boots ...

Re: Offender Checks - Do they work?

These checks basically consist of a door knock..... "Hello Dave, are you going burgling today?"..... No? "oh right, toodles" The team then note what they are wearing etc and its tea, cakes and medals all'round. If there is no answer then the officers try, girlfriends addresses, grannies address and...
