Re: CSOs in other countries

The civil proceedings I imagine is to do with serving civil process e.g. divorce proceedings, summons, etc. This is often the job of the local Sheriff's office here, maybe they take up some of the slack. I don't think there's anything like the level of categorisation (class driven snobbery?!) as in ...

Re: Motorway Patrol UK

Abuse for what? Trying to help people? The fact they're not law enforcement should tell people they're there to help them and not trying to do them for speeding etc. With the PCSO role I can understand it's confusing as it's a half law enforcement and half not. Very confusing to the public, supervis...

CSOs in other countries

I know this topic has come up before, but I was just watching the Morgan Spurlock series and on episode which covered how Stockton, California is in dire financial circumstances. The Police Chief mentioned how officers have been cut, homicide reduced, CSOs, etc. also. That obviously made me think "I...

Re: the Age of Criminal Responsibility Bill

I would agree. The age of responsibility should be the average age that kids realise that an act is either right or wrong. At age 10 I knew a long time before that, that killing a toddler from a shopping centre is the worst kind of wrong. Here's another question they'll ask "They know it's wrong but...

Re: the Age of Criminal Responsibility Bill

So in other countries, what the hell do they do with criminals under 18 who can't be prosecuted in any way? Send them home? Detain them in a YOI on public safety grounds rather than a criminal conviction?

Re: PCSO videos only!!

But who was the bloke who took the positive action to bring him down? Looks like a private security helped, all three did it. Unless this is a backhanded jibe at either the private security for being a copper when he isn't or the PCSO for not getting involved soon enough? Or getting involved entire...

Re: PCSO videos only!!

I'd be lying if I said I didn't get a bit of smug satisfaction with the PCSO very much standing up for himself:

Re: Staffordshire Police

yeah we can,:) No you can't. No PCSO in the country can search for drugs alone. The power is for alcohol and tobacco and/or a s32 PACE power for articles which may assist escape from lawful custody. You can only seize drugs if found DURING one of the above searches, as well as if they are left open...

Re: Staffordshire Police

Glad to hear you're enjoying it. What sort of stuff have they covered? And where are Staffs on the scale of PCSO issued powers? Have they combined the TW role with you guys too? I hope this is a long term position for you as look at the news with the Met PCSOs being reduced or Merseyside being scrap...

'Biteback' dog spray

Has anyone been issued with Biteback dog spray? Which forces? Any particular units? http://www.bite-back.net/about.php I think it's a bit dodgy they only list it as 'a blend of natural oils' and keep using that phrase. Yeah, it's great it's friendly to dogs, but if it has the effect of an incapacita...

Re: Staffordshire Police

Gibbs - Merseyside recruited a few PCSOs last year and they started in May 2014. They're still there so looks good. Also, I would suggest staying in your job as a licencing officer. You have some Police powers and a whole load that nobody else does. Unless Staffordshire decide to a) keep the PCSOs f...

Re: Is the site broken ?

I think we all realised nothing new was posted and certain people just wanted to go round and around over the same issues. You know who you are.
