So North Yorkshire have appointed a Superintendent who has never served in any previous rank. This is DIRECT ENTRY. Direct Entry is needed when the force's Ch Insps are of such low calibre and lacking the requisite skills, that people "from outside" easily outshine them. What other explanation is there?

And why not? This is how the Army have always done it, the low class "binmen" join as privates, the upper class knobs join as Lieutenants or Majors! So what does this Direct Entry Superintendent tell us? He tells us that "Bobbies are just like binmen" well yes of course they are, to him. He has never been a Constable, so why should he have any empathy or sympathy or respect for their role? It will be him on a disciplinary hearing sometime soon looking at some Constable accused of misconduct and he will have absolutely no empathy or sympathy or respect for that Constable, why should he? Yes this is the way forward definitely! In fact DIRECT ENTRY to Ch Insp next surely!!

Why not direct entry to Chief Constable? After all, they are business managers at that rank. Why not recruit direct from the private sector?
I have seen the truth and it makes no sense.
